Frequently Asked Questions

Most of the questions we hear before an inquiry fall into a few consistent categories: how we work, who we work with, what engagements look like, and why we operate the way we do. These answers are direct. If you have a question that is not answered here, the inquiry form is the right place to ask it.

What types of organizations does Fortestra work with?

Fortestra currently focuses on three sectors: credit unions and community banks, federally qualified health centers and community health organizations, and community colleges. Organizations in adjacent sectors are considered case by case when there is a clear fit and no conflict of interest.

Will you show pricing on the website?

No. Engagement scope varies significantly based on organizational size, complexity, regulatory environment, and the specific work required. We provide a clear investment range after the discovery call, once we understand your actual situation. Posting prices that would not apply fairly to most organizations we serve does not serve anyone.

What makes Fortestra different from a large consulting firm?

Three things: you work directly with the firm’s founder on every engagement, with no handoffs to junior staff. Every deliverable is designed specifically for your organization, not a template from a previous engagement. And every engagement is built so your team can operate the result independently after we leave. We build capability, not dependency.

Do you implement recommendations, or only advise?

We design, build, and govern. Your team implements. This is intentional. Organizations that execute their own improvements develop the internal capability to sustain them. Organizations that outsource execution to their advisor become dependent on that advisor. We build for independence.

How long does a typical engagement take?

Quick-win assessments typically run one to three weeks from kickoff. Strategic program builds typically run four to six weeks. Governance sprints and fractional advisory retainers are longer by design. All timelines are agreed and documented in the Statement of Work before work begins.

Do you require long-term contracts?

No. Engagements are scoped and documented before work begins. The commitment is to the scope defined in the Statement of Work, not an ongoing retainer you have to cancel. Fractional advisory retainers are available for organizations that benefit from sustained advisory access, with defined term options and clear notice periods.

What industries do you NOT work in?

Fortestra does not accept engagements that create conflicts with applicable professional obligations. In practice, this means defense and aerospace-adjacent industries are outside our scope. If you are uncertain whether your organization’s sector presents a conflict, raise it during the inquiry process and we will be direct about it.

Do you work with organizations that have received audit findings or compliance violations?

Yes. Organizations that have already received a finding are often the most ready for this work, because the urgency is established and the leadership commitment to fixing it is already in place. We do not judge the situation. We assess it honestly and build toward something better.

How does the inquiry process work?

Click the Start an Inquiry button on any page of the site. The short HoneyBook lead form takes about two minutes to complete. We review every inquiry personally and respond within one business day, with either a confirmation of next steps or, if your situation is not within our current scope, a direct explanation of why. The discovery call is a focused 30-minute conversation, not a pitch.

What happens to our information after we submit an inquiry?

It is handled with the same discretion as any Fortestra engagement. We do not share, sell, or reference information submitted through the inquiry process. We use it to prepare for a meaningful response and a useful discovery conversation. That is it.

Do you work with organizations outside the United States?

Yes. Fortestra works with organizations based outside the United States and with U.S.-headquartered organizations that have international offices.

The operational and compliance problems international organizations bring to us are consistent. GDPR data governance that lacks documented ownership, defined data standards, and auditable evidence. EU AI Act compliance obligations that require governance architecture, risk classification documentation, and change management infrastructure before enforcement deadlines arrive. European Accessibility Act requirements that need a structured remediation plan with clear accountability. Cross-border data obligations that sit on no one’s desk and get addressed reactively when an audit or incident forces the issue.

All international engagements are conducted remotely. Session scheduling accounts for time zone differences. Scope, deliverables, and delivery standards are identical to domestic engagements.

Do you work with organizations in all 50 states?

Yes. Fortestra serves organizations across all 50 states and U.S. territories. All engagements are conducted remotely by default, within a defined session window. On-site delivery is available in any U.S. location by arrangement.

Do you work with organizations outside your primary sectors?

Fortestra’s primary focus is credit unions, community banks, community health organizations, and community colleges. Requests from organizations in other sectors, including nonprofits and state and local government agencies, are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. If your situation aligns with our service areas, start an inquiry. We will give you a direct answer.

Still have a question?

The inquiry form is the right place to ask it. We will respond with a real answer, not an automated reply.
